The precursor of DAA, the Australian Association of Dietitians, was established in 1976. The Association became known as DAA in 1983. DAA represents approximately 2200 members. Dietitians are employed in a wide variety of work areas including clinical dietetics, community nutrition, education, private sector, government, research and industry. The Board of DAA is responsible for the management of the Association's affairs. It comprises a President, a Vice-President, and an elected Director from each State and Territory. Administrative and professional support is provided by an Executive Director, a Professional Services Director and other staff in DAA's National Office, located in Canberra, ACT.
