A patient’s general health will dictate much of that particular patient’s prognosis. Patients in good health will often not only be able to deal with the symptoms the disease better, but also better manage symptoms of the potent chemotherapy and radiation treatments which often comprise a patient’s cancer treatment regimen.

Mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer. Malignant (cancerous) cells develop in the mesothelium, the protective sac that covers most of the body’s internal organs. Mesothelioma generally starts in the outer membrane of the lungs (pleura), but can also occur in the lining of the abdominal cavity.
Unfortunetly .there is no cure for mesothelioma unless it can be removed by surgery.By the time mesothelioma is diagnosed it has usually already spread beyond the point where it can be surgically removed. If this is the case, treatment will aim to prolong life and keep the person as comfortable as possible.

There are a number of different types of treatment available for this disease. Among the curative options that are available are surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Many patients who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma are given a combination of the three, in what is called a multimodal approach. By combining more than one of these rigorous treatments, it is possible to approach a solution to the cancer from various angles. This innovative approach has been shown to improve the life expectancy of the patient.
