hi everybody, I don't like taking pills all the time, and I would have to take the cholesterol medications for the rest of my life to keep getting any benefit from them. My only other risk factor is high blood pressure. I need to eat a low-fat diet and get enough exercise to help keep my weight under control, so I'm going to see if I can get my cholesterol down a little bit that way (and maybe help my blood pressure, too). does anybody have any experiences with medicatios which they have tried and tested ?

hi druv, dont worry, I too had similar problems but my doctor put me on atorvastatin Lipitor lowered my cholestorol from 234 to 134 in a month. It was amazing that my cholestorol level went down so fast, but I experienced my skin being extremely dry, fine bumpy skin that appeared to look like the measles on my arms and legs no matter how much lotion I put on them. I was always itching and was upset because my skin was so dry. This is the only problem I had with the drug.
Lipitor should be taken exactly as the doctor ordered. Each dose of Lipitor must be taken with a full glass of water and can be conveniently taken with or without food in your stomach. Lipitor is usually recommended as a once-a-day tablet, it suggested that you take each dose at about the same time each day. It is likewise recommended that you observe a low fat, low cholesterol diet to best realize the benefits of taking Lipitor.

I recently started taking 10mg of Lipitor and it also dropped my numbers from 241 to 174 however I feel a little spacey and I am wondering if this couldbe the cause?

First of all to reduce fats you need to control your diet with strict diet plan.Like eat sprout, boiled fish, green vegetables, low fat fruits etc.Avoid hard drinks.Exercise regularly. Then sleep for particular times.Drink lots of water.
Try to walk for maximum time of the day. Then there are medication for weight loss like xenical.

I'm going to add this link to the ones you might want to check out, too: CHOLESTEROL It does a nice job breaking down what exactly it is, what can cause it, how to deal with it, etc.
