I recently returned from a trip to Spain and while I loved the country and the people, I found that much of the food was not very healthy. Most of the meats served in resturants had an excessive amount of fat on it and what's the deal with french fries? almost every meal was served with french fries! It would have been nice to get some good veggies. I must say that almost everywhere I went the salads were excellent, and of course had olive oil dressing.

I never had to worry about getting sick although some of the food I was served I could not identify and I ate in some very strange places.

What about the wonderful tapas and paella? granted the cuts of meat leave something to be desired but the fish is wonderful and I was able to find vegetaran restaurants in Madrid that were excellent. The only problem I had was that in Spain they allow smoking everywhere and I found it quite offensive.
